This is a BOB group run by Beckenham u3a but open to members of Bromley, Orpington and Beckenham.
An affable, leisurely, friendly amble through aspects of film criticism covering the role of director, the conventions of film genres such as westerns or sci-fi, the representation of gays/women, etc. Also discussing some key moments of film history such as the French new wave, new German cinema, film noir, silents films and much more.
Roughly a third lecture/screening/discussion; this is a chatty, informal and entertaining group. There are occasional visits to the cinema. The course is delivered by our member who has 35 years experience of the subject as a lecturer in FE and higher education.
