Music

Orpington u3a have a number of Interest Groups listed together under the heading of "Music". Click on a group that interests you to find out more details.

Big Band Jazz - Enjoyable couple of hours listening to jazz with a different theme/ topic each meeting.

Choir - All levels welcome. We sing a variety of pieces and have a really enjoyable time!

Concerts - We attend mainly classical music concerts, normally at the South Bank Centre.

Handbells - We play a wide range of music, using 4 octaves (49 handbells). New members can start with just one bell and then progress to 2 bells when comfortable.

Piano & Instrumental Duets - We are a group of players of orchestral instruments who like to make music together. We mainly play from the classical repertoire, but are open to other genres.

Pop Music 1955-1979 - We listen to each member's choice of music based on a pre-notified theme chosen at a previous meeting e.g. 'First 'Hits'

Recorder Playing - We are a friendly group who, between us, play 5 different recorders: Sopranino, Descant, Treble, Tenor and Bass. We play a variety of different music and are developing our sight-reading skills as well as our technical skills.

The Rock 'n' Roll Years (1955-69) - A small music appreciation group that specialises in a key fifteen-year period of popular music, the first fifteen years of rock ā€˜n’ roll.
