The World Garden, Lullingstone - Tom Hart Dyke
Tom Hart Dyke, plant hunter, first shot to international prominence in the year 2000, when he was kidnapped in the Colombian jungle on a plant hunting expedition that went dangerously wrong. On the day the guerillas told him he would die, he planned a world garden for his ancestral home, Lullingstone Castle, “I spent the remainder of the day drawing plans, in my diary, for a World Garden – containing the plants I had collected from across the globe, planted out in their respective countries of origin. I wanted this plant filled extravaganza of a worldly garden to pay homage to the amazing achievements of plant hunters especially during the Victorian and Edwardian era”.
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
A reminder that membership renewal is due by 1st March. If you haven't already renewed you can bring a completed membership form and your £12 fee along to the meeting. Blank forms will be available for those who aren't able to print one at home.
NEW PARKING ARRANGEMENTS
A new Parking system has been installed at Crofton Halls. Parking notices have been erected. Drivers using the car park must enter their vehicle registration within 15 minutes of arrival and will then be allowed to park for up to 3 hours without charge. Failure to do so will result in a £100 fine. This applies to disabled parking too. We have been advised that anyone dropping off or picking up will be ok so long as they don't spend 15 minutes inside the car parking area.
You will be able to enter your vehicle registration on either of 2 devices located in main reception or on your phone using a QR code which will be displayed in reception.
